With over 27 years of experience behind us we are able to assist in the decision making process for choosing the correct materials for the type of product in hand. Our crew of skilled artisans, machinists, CNC operators, surveyors and finishers combine their expertise in making sure we start and finish using the right materials. We are able to offer a wide range of processed, & engineered materials as well as responsibly sourced hand selected timbers.

Below is a list of some of our favourite timbers. We are able to provide a wide range of finishes to enhance the feel of select timbers to include oiling, waxing, lacquering as well as staining and lime treatments.

American White Oak (Quercus Alba)

American White Oak is known for its hardness, heaviness and high strength. It also has great resilience and density with minimal risk of splintering. Due to its closed cellular structure, this wood is both water and rot resistant, making it a practical and decorative woodworking choice.

European Oak (Quercus Robur)

European Oak is a hard, strong and heavy timber, known for its high strength properties and good levels of durability. It also offers good abrasion resistance, making it an excellent choice for indoor furniture. Also preferred for the enhanced appearance of medullary rays. This wood has good decay resistance for projects such as boat building.

Beech (Fagus sylvatica)

European Beech is superb for all indoor woodworking and boasts a strength that rivals that of Oak. Although it’s considered non-durable, Beech’s strength value will increase after sufficient drying has occurred. It’s also resistant to impacts, knocks, dents and heartwood decay.

Walnut (Juglans nigra)

This moderately hard and durable timber will provide good shock and dent resistance, good dimensional stability and reliable strength properties. typically straight but coarse grain that may come with some attractive irregularities from time to time. It has a medium texture and a good natural lustre. We tend to source the Turkish variety which is considered the most superior.

Tulip Wood (Liriodendrun tulipifera)

Characterised by its smooth feel and light colouring, Poplar is a fairly strong and durable hardwood. We only use for painted joinery finishes.

Sapele (Entandrophragma cylindricum)

This hardwood product features a deep, rich finish suited to furniture projects, conservatories and much more. Sapele timber is characterised by its heavy strength and durability, interlocked grain and natural lustre. The versatile wood also benefits from a distinctive red-brown colour that darkens as it matures and ages.

American yellow pine (Pinus palustris)

With a medium to coarse texture and a beautiful straight grain this wood is suitable for a wide range of gorgeous joinery projects. Our favourite for linen cupboard slatted shelving.

Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii)

Douglas Fir is one of the toughest softwoods you’ll come across, featuring a moderately hard composition and great stability with a low risk of warping, splitting or bending due to atmospheric conditions. It’s also resistant to rot and decay, making it a great choice for indoors and out.
